Independant Dance Studios Stand Up to Hollywood Cash Cows

New York, NY April 5, 2011

Hit dance shows on prime time networks have taken to the instructional dance video market this year with the success of their shows. But Hollywood is not the only one who is try to capitalize on America's new popular past-time. Indepdendent dance studioes around the country have also created a series of instructional dance videos to rival those of So you think you can Dance and Dancing With the Stars.

Who's been most successful at rivaling the big names? According to Amazon's hourly updated sales ranks, the Night club Dance Series by LearnClubDance.Com is competing with big name distributors like Lionsgate and Magnolia.

LearnClubDance.Com is not the only independent dance studio to be making a splash. Motion Life Styles and Salsa Dance Crazy are just a few examples of the abilities of small companies to compete with the marketing power and money of top distribution companies.

LearnClubDance.com owner Paul Bolotovsky says "it's the internet that's given the little guys an opportunity to succeed." Consumers are able to find exactly what they're looking for so they don't need to resort to just brand recognition anymore.

Hollywood has reacted by dramatically lowering the price of their DVDs. Most widely distributed DVDs cost about ten bucks while the small studios usually charge between twenty and thirty-five dollars."We think consumers will continue to buy our products because it's exactly what they are looking for - even if it costs more than something widely distributed," says Paul. And that's what every small dance studio is hoping as well.
